What are the responsibilities and job description for the GENERAL DENTIST position at Westchester Institute for Human Development (WIHD)?
WIHD is seeking a part-time Dentist to work on our mobile dental van 2-3 days per week. Looking for a courteous and organized individual who enjoys working as part of a treatment team. Candidates must be interested in working with the special needs population and ideally be available Monday and Tuesdays to work, but not required.
The WIHD Dental Center offers a complete range of specialized dental services and ongoing care for people with disabilities. Our comprehensive program is designed to create a “dental home” ensuring quality and continuity of care for both adults and children. These services are delivered in our state-of-the-art dental suite at WIHD; in our Dental Van, which regularly visits community services agencies throughout the Hudson Valley Region; and at the Westchester Medical Center. WIHD’s dental mobile van has two fully equipped dental operatories and serves both the lower- and upper-Hudson Valley areas.
Responsibilities Include :
- Performing semi-annual dental services, including : oral clinical examination; dental x-rays, if needed; dental prophylaxis;
- Providing dental operative and prosthodontic treatment as needed, including : amalgam and composite fillings, crowns, removable partials or complete dentures;
- Performing periodontal debridement, scaling, and root planning as needed;
- Student training, which consists of student observation of behavior management, dental procedures, and student assisting when appropriate and circumstances allow.
