What are the responsibilities and job description for the LEND Family Faculty position at Westchester Institute for Human Development?
WIHD-LEND Program is recruiting for a LEND Family Faculty member. LEND (Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and related Disabilities) is an interdisciplinary leadership training program, funded by the Maternal and Child Health Bureau of the federal government at 52 sites around the country. The candidate would oversee the implementation and evaluation of the family partnerships training curriculum for all LEND trainees and provide family mentorship to LEND family specialist trainees. As a core LEND faculty, you would also attend monthly LEND curriculum meetings (hybrid - in person and remotely) and participate in local, state, and national activities, as appropriate. The time commitment would be 7 hours/week.
The LEND Program at WIHD is a two-semester interdisciplinary leadership training program. LEND trainees include graduate students and post-doctoral fellows; self-advocates; and family members of children and adults with disabilities. Through participating in LEND, trainees develop knowledge and skills they will need to become leaders working with and on behalf of children with disabilities and other special health care needs, and their families, to improve health outcomes and decrease disparities.
The potential candidate should have:
- Experience providing professional development training/continuing education
- Experience in family-to-family support, disability leadership and advocacy for families of individuals with disabilities and/or special healthcare needs
- Skills in a variety of instructional methods used for adult learning
- Knowledge of family and person-centered practices and disability resources, networks and community service systems; curriculum development strategies and evaluation; evidence-based instructional methods to promote active and collaborative learning

Hourly Rate / Range of Pay: $40-45 Per Hour
