Summary of Job Purpose Manages delivery of health care services to accomplish diagnosis and treatment. Manages financial, physical, and human resources in order to provide medical services in radiological sciences. Exercises professional judgment in performance of duties and maintains a demeanor complimentary to medical ethics. Monitors departmental operations to assure compliance with governmental regulations and meets standards established by accrediting agencies. General Management Responsibilities Mission Demonstrates leadership and commitment to the Hospital Core Values and Mission. Leadership Provides leadership, training, and support for staff by establishing performance expectations and providing constructive feedback to reorganize and/or improve positive performance. Establishes both short and long-term plans to meet department needs. Shows foresight in recognizing problems. Effectively communicates Hospital information, as well as departmental expectations and goals, to all staff by conducting regular staff meetings, posting appropriate memos, and holding individual communications sessions as needed. Implements policies and procedures in a fair and equitable manner. Effectively manages conflict resolution and conducts formal personnel counseling when needed. Operations/Financial Manages the financial resources of the department effectively and efficiently. Prepares and manages annual departmental budget, determining the needs of the department and logically communicates reasonable requests to upper management. Human Resources Recruits, interviews and hires competent candidates for department position, who will be supportive of the Hospital Mission and Core Values. Completes Initial and Annual Performance Appraisals within the required time frames. Ensures staff completion of mandatory education requirements. Ensures staff maintains updated professional licensure and certifications and forwards documents to Human Resources. Actively works with Employee Health to ensure that employees adhere to DOH/DNV/Infection Control Regulations. Staff Development Provides ongoing training to staff to ensure productivity and knowledge. Ensures employee competency by providing ongoing staff development and continuing education opportunities, including staff participation in all mandated and regulatory programs. Quality Improvement Implements and monitors patient safety initiatives to meet established goals. Reviews incident reports and patient complaints, follows up appropriately. Essential Job Responsibilities The following is a summary of the essential functions of this job. Assist in preparing and monitoring operations and capital expenditure budgets. Reports on departmental progress budget variances, productivity, objectives and operational issues. Recommends and purchases capital equipment and physical plant improvements. Controls inventory, care for and purchase of supplies respecting areas of responsibility. Interviews, employs, evaluate, counsels, and may recommend suspension and termination respecting established Human Resource policies. Develops and revises position descriptions for Human Resources. Oversees the general management operations of daily practice assuring prudent delegation of duties and responsibilities. Serves as an administrative liaison and represents the department regarding institution policies, procedures, and regulations. Assumes the role of acting Radiology Director in his/her absence to include administrative call on the corresponding campus. Assists Director in completing payroll/Kronos and staffing budget process for the Medical Imaging Department. Assists in the evaluation of staff, provides counsel, monitors performance, provides guidance and constructively influences staff morale. Disseminates and assures compliance with department and institution policies, procedures, regulations, and continuing education. Facilitates department#s quality assessment and improvement plan recognizing standards established personnel policies. Coordinates practical instruction, in-service, departmental orientation for all Medical Imaging staff. Contributes to the efficient operation of the department through communication either written or verbal pertaining continued patient activity, and other tasks always recognizing patient confidentiality. Assists in updating and improving departmental and hospital policies and procedures. Works closely with the Director of Medical Imaging, Chief Technologists, and Physicians concerning the clinical and professional operations of the department. Patient assessment including monitoring of the patient#s condition and assuming the responsibility for provision of physical or psychological needs during procedures. Provides patient education and demonstrated the ability to explain both pre and post procedural instructions. Addresses and responds to concerns or grievances proffered by physicians, staff and patients. The essential responsibilities of Imaging Manager/Coordinator also include those of the Chief Technologists on both campuses. Serves as Director of Medical Imaging in Director#s absence. Performs any other duties as assigned. Essential Job Qualifications Education: Graduate from an A.M.A. approved school of Radiological Technology Experience: Minimal of five years supervisory experience Training/License: NYS Radiologic Technologist License. ARRT preferred. Advanced Certification preferred. Other: BLS certification required. ACLS preferred. #
