What are the responsibilities and job description for the ADVANCED COUNSELOR position at Westchester Medical Center?
Advanced Counselors will perform the responsibilities listed in the job description. They will provide counseling services to the individuals served. Advanced counselors may provide administrative and clinical supervision to those assigned to their supervision and general oversight of the program when working. Advanced Counselors achieve that status by meeting the criteria set by N.Y.S. OASAS.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and Co-Occurring Disorders (COD) screening and assessments
- SUD Diagnostic Impression
- Treatment planning
- Intake and orientation of new patients
- Facilitator of group and individual meetings
- Reporting and documentation in patients file
- Coordination of patients care
- Psycho-Education to patient
- Determines Level of Care (LOC) based on LOCADTR (Level of Care for Alcohol and Drug Treatment Referral)
- Case Management
- Crisis Intervention
- Administrative Supervision
- Clinical Supervision
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
EXPERIENCE
- Demonstrates evidence of working at least 3-5 years in a chemical dependency setting
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s Degree (except in cases of Grandfathering)
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
- CASAC or other QHP. 30-Hour of OASAS approved Clinical Supervision Foundations I & II training
OTHER
- De-escalation training, Supporting Recovery with Medications Treatment (MAT) course, preferred or to be completed within one year of employment
