Job Summary
- The Nursing Assistant carries out all assignments given by the Registered Nurse. Is accountable for all patient care given during shift. Is responsible for adhering to all standards of nursing care and for promoting teamwork among co-workers.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with all aspects of personal hygiene (bathing, shaving, oral care, giving and removing bedpan or urinal, etc.)
- Ensures patient’s dietary needs are met Assist with serving trays, assists with completion of menus, provides snacks as needed and provides fluids.
- Provides a safe and comfortable environment.
- Obtains specimens as needed by MD, per Charge nurse instructions.
- Takes vital signs accurately at prescribed times.
- Turns and positions patients
- Accurate documentation of intake and output
- Responsible for the following treatments:
- finger stick glucometer
- hot and cold compresses
- simple dressing
- perineal care
- post mortem care
- weights
- Adheres to infection control standards
- Monitors IV’s in conjunction with co-assigned nurse and Charge nurse
- Reports any changes in patient’s condition promptly to charge nurse
- Documentation of care in patient record, i.e. flow sheet.
- Utilizes good communication skills, answers the phone in a professional manner
- Assist in Quality improvement program
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements

- N/A
EDUCATION- High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS- Current CPR Certification
