What are the responsibilities and job description for the Oral Surgery Assistant position at Westchester Oral & Maxillofacial Associates?
The ideal surgcial assistant is responsible for handling day to day logistics for surgical patients, assist in surgery, treatment planning, inventory/stocking, communicating and pre and post operative care. We are a full scope oral and maxillofacial practice with a strong emphasis on placement of implants, extractions, bone grafting, conservative and surgical solutions for TMJ, and cosmetic reconstruction. We offer IV sedation as well as general anesthesia. Please only candidates with experience to apply.
Duties:
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including medical history, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests
- Collaborate with physicians to develop and implement treatment plans for patients
- Provide patient education on preventive healthcare measures and treatment options
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation
- Assist with surgical procedures such as suctioning, handing instruments, etc
Desired Skills:
- Proficient in documentation and electronic health record systems
- Experience with OMS Vision or other dental practice management software is a plus
- Knowledge of CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software is desirable but not required.
- Previous experience as a dental receptionist or dental assistant is beneficial
- Strong understanding of infection control protocols and practices
- Familiarity with medical records management and confidentiality regulations
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong patient assessment skills
