Job Title: Physician Assistant - First Assist – General Surgery
Location: White Plains Hospital, White Plains, NY (25 miles from Manhattan)
Job Type: Full-Time (40 hours per week)
Schedule: Monday-Friday (4x10 hour shifts) On-Call (1 weekend every 6-7 weeks)

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Physician Assistant (PA) - First Assist in General Surgery to join our dynamic surgical team. This position offers the opportunity to work in a high-volume operating room with a broad spectrum of surgical procedures, including robotic, laparoscopic, and open cases. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in general surgery, with proficiency in assisting in surgeries and a commitment to providing excellent patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the surgeon in the operating room, ensuring OR efficiency and supporting surgeon needs intra-operatively
• Participate in rounding, writing orders, discharging patients, and coordinating overall care for surgical patients
• Actively involved in patient hand-offs and providing post-operative care
• Provide support in both inpatient and outpatient settings as needed

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Physician Assistant studies
• Current New York State PA License
• National Certification
• ACLS Certification
• Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in an inpatient or outpatient setting
• 2 years of first assist experience in general surgery
• Experience in open and laparoscopic surgeries preferred
• Robotic surgery experience is highly desirable
