What is a WESTCOMM 911 Emergency Communications Specialist?
The 911 Emergency Communications Specialist (ECS) plays a critical role in emergency response. The ECS is responsible for answering emergency and non-emergency calls and providing critical, life-saving assistance to citizens requesting police, fire, or EMS, and to the response units dispatched to handle the response. Through professional information gathering, the incumbent determines the nature of the call, whether a response is necessary and what type of assistance or information is needed. For calls requiring fire, medical or police response, the incumbent professionally dispatches the appropriate agency to the scene, maintaining proper computer records of all units dispatched.
At WESTCOMM we provide emergency communications services to the Police and Fire Departments for the City of Chicopee and the Towns of Longmeadow, Monson, East Longmeadow and Ware, and the Hampden County Sheriff's Department.
Experience in Public Safety Dispatching preferred. Certifications in CPR, CJIS, EMD, APCO PST1 or equivalents are preferred.
