What are the responsibilities and job description for the Long Term Substitute - Reading Specialist/Consultant position at Westerly Public Schools (RI)?
General Statement: Provide educational support to student achievement in the area of reading with specific focus on instructional and mentoring practices. This includes maintaining a positive learning environment, where all students are encouraged to participate, ask questions and generally receive the individual attention they deserve to effectively learn the material in a lesson plan.
Responsibilities:
- Provide small group and individual reading intervention to students identified as needing tier support.
- Use data to design lessons that differentiate instruction for students’ needs.
- Provide support by using research based strategies and lessons to support student learning through print and web based supports.
- Collaborate with content teachers and district leadership.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Experience:
- Evidence of leadership experience.
- Evidence of teaching reading across content areas.
- Evidence of using a multi-sensory approach when appropriate.
- Evidence of ability to work collaboratively with teachers.

Education:
- Masters Degree Required.

Certification & Licensing:
- Must meet the current RI Department of Education requirements and or certifications.
- Authorized to work in the USA
- Current national background check without disqualifying results at time of hire.
