Summary

Under direction, manage Center Managers, and provide leadership, support, planning, staff supervision, and evaluation of the Head Start sites within respective geographic regions.

Duties

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.
1) Manage the Head Start program at the center level; supervise and coordinate activities of Center Manager and assigned centers; determine work procedures, oversee work schedules and determine methods for expediting workflow.
2) Assure compliance with Federal and State Standards, to include Office of Head Start, AZ Licensing and WACOG Policies and Procedures; assist in the development of program policies and procedures.
3) Supervise and develop performance measures, evaluate staff performance, and ensure staff receive the appropriate training on a regular basis; perform role of center staff as needed. Provide center specific onboarding/training to new center managers.
4) Investigate parent and other grievances involving center staff and recommend resolution to resolve complaints; assist with corrective actions.
5) Participate in recruitment, interviewing and hiring of staff to ensure centers are adequately staffed; approve leave requests and provide adequate coverage during staff absences.
6) Ensure effective communication with parents/families, community agencies, and staff.
7) Work closely with content specialists to ensure child, family and Head Start staff services are effectively implemented according to program timelines; actively participate in ongoing program planning and annual self-assessments.
8) Regularly visit all centers and classrooms to ensure quality operations and environments, provide onsite support, monitor facility and repair quality, and identify needs.
9) Lead, coordinate, facilitate, and attend trainings/meetings for program staff to promote safety, operational best practices, and professional development; identify training needs and coordinate appropriate training sessions for center staff.
10) Coordinate and/or collaborate with relevant agency staff on a regular basis.
11) Oversee and ensure data entered into relevant software programs is accurate and complete in a timely manner; maintain communications with Content Specialists as needed.
12) Effectively supervise, motivate, inform, educate, train, solicit information, direct department staff, and coordinate team building as appropriate to increase and maintain quality work environments.
13) Determine need and assign, monitor, and track substitute teachers for centers within established guideline.
14) Actively participate to secure work locations and prepare them for operation per Head Start and Licensing standards and within the allotted timeframe and budget.
15) Assist in determining annual staffing needs and coordinate staff as appropriate.
16) Order supplies and process purchase orders as directed. Review center supply orders for accuracy, appropriateness, and need.
17) Travel within WACOG service area, including overnight stays as needed; additional travel may be required.
18) Maintain reliable and predictable attendance; work outside of standard business hours as needed.
19) Utilize tact and discretion to maintain confidentiality of information and a positive image of WACOG.
20) Perform other duties as necessary to carry out the administrative/ programmatic goals and objectives of WAGOG and/or department.

Requirements

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor?s degree in Business/Public/Education Management/Administration or Early Education, OR
Minimum five years directly related experience including two years supervisor experience, OR
Comparable combination of education and experience
Willing and able to develop professionally by attending relevant educational training and/or workshops

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Ten years working in Early Childhood education with progression of title to leadership/mentor position
Master?s degree in relevant field

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 21 years of age
Valid Arizona Driver License, MVR Report of Acceptable Driving Record, and Proof of Vehicle Liability Insurance
Current Health Physical and TB clearance
Current AZ DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card/ Criminal History Affidavit/Central Registry Background Check
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-energy environment
(Ability to secure and maintain a driver?s license valid in the state of Arizona, or an acceptable alternative means of transportation. May be required to drive an agency vehicle. Employees authorized to operate a private vehicle for WACOG business are required to carry liability insurance minimums. For purposes of vehicle insurance, minimum 21 years of age.)

  • Ability to assist in the development of project plans, coordinate projects, communicate changes and progress, and complete projects on time and within budget
  • Ability to research solutions and take action when information is not readily available
  • Proficiency in communicating in the native language of clients is preferred
