As a Senior Portfolio Administrator, you'll be responsible for the accounting and administration of domestic and global investment portfolios (separately managed accounts). Your role will focus on resolving issues between custodian banks, brokers, primary service providers and internal parties as a problem solver, conflict resolver and relationship builder. You are an accounting-oriented investment professional who is highly motivated, enjoys working in a team environment, and desires to be part of a forward looking investment operations team. You have a passion for investment accounting skills and exhibit a strong interest in leveraging technology solutions to your role.

What you will do

    Interface daily with our primary service provider, custodian banks, third party administrator, client service team, portfolio management and analytics to guide communication between parties to resolve complex issues
  • Manage more complex projects including daily reconciliation of portfolio cash accounts with prime brokers, custodian banks and third-party administrators
  • Complete monthly reconciliation of clearing broker futures and options statements as well as centrally cleared derivative statements
  • Complete monthly reconciliation of investment holdings, cash, cash equivalents, forward foreign exchange and pricing to custodian bank and/or third party administrator
  • Research and analyse discrepancies between Western Asset and the client's/fund's designated prime broker or custodian bank. Ensuring that discrepancies are communicated to designated contacts and adequately resolved
  • Prepare and review of performance returns for designated client portfolios
  • Create accounting reports to meet custom reporting requests
  • Identify funding requirements and overdrafts to ensure sufficient monies available at the prime broker or custodian bank to meet settlement of executed transactions
  • Assist the team supervisor in establishing operating policies and procedures for the team

What you will bring

  • A depth of experience in the fixed income space and strong accounting skills.
  • An undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Mathematics, Economics or Accounting.
  • Experience with industry-specific analytical tools such as Bloomberg, Tableau and Smartsheet is a plus.
  • Knowledge and/ or experience with the following security types: Government Bonds, Corporate Bonds, Municipal bonds, Derivatives, Mortgages and Foreign Exchange.
  • Excellent quantitative and research skills and exhibits a strong interest in finance and accounting.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Strong computer skills required, particularly in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to work effectively with various groups and departments throughout the organization.

Expected base salary for the role will generally be between $39.66 and $44.95 per hour at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include other forms of compensation such as, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.
