Director of Campus Security
Position: Western Colorado University invites applications for the full-time position of Director of Campus Security. The position reports to the Dean of Students and is responsible for overall leadership for campus security through strategic vision, situational leadership and general department management.
Responsibilities: The Director of Campus Security (DCS) supervises all security department personnel, including classified staff and student guards, establishing work schedules/work standards as well as conducting evaluations. The DCS also provides oversight and supervision regarding security operations, procedures and identifying training needs/opportunities/presentations for the University community. The DCS will assist in patrolling campus and will provide and/or identify resources to provide security for sporting/special events. Additional work will include writing daily and comprehensive security reports and will work closely with Facility Services regarding needed repairs and/or upgrades to help improve the flow or condition of campus.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, business administration, sociology, or another field related to the position duties. Experience with security or security services. Prior experience as a guard, security guard, or similar work experience. Working in collaboration with guards or similar, and with multiple campus constituents. At least one year of previous supervisory experience. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strategic planning and execution.
Compensation: This position is an FLSA exempt position with a salary of $60,000 per year. Western offers an excellent benefits package including shared premiums for a comprehensive health insurance plan, dental insurance, retirement plan, life insurance, and other insurance options. After one year of employment, Western provides free tuition for dependents enrolled full time in undergraduate programs for up to four years.
