Lecturer in Mathematics
POSITION: Western Colorado University invites applications for non-tenure-track, full-time positions in Mathematics for the 2025-2026 academic year (with strong possibility of renewal). Teaching load is 30 credits per academic year, with the possibility for a reduced load for reassign time to supervise a tutoring center, undergraduate research and/or engage in other departmental priorities.
The
mathematics program
has approximately 50 majors, a comprehensive undergraduate curriculum, and ten full-time faculty members which are a strong student-centered community of committed instructors. The program is housed in the new Paul Rady School of Engineering located in a brand new, state-of-the-art building and serves all of Western’s majors and students in an innovative
engineering partnership
with the University of Colorado.
QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree or Ph.D. in Mathematics or a closely related field required. Candidates must possess strong communication skills and a commitment to undergraduate education and excellence in teaching. The department is particularly interested in candidates with experience in or potential for using innovative approaches to teaching. Applicant must demonstrate effective teaching at the Calc level and below (but applicants are not limited to teaching at this level and may teach upper-division courses in the major). Prior teaching experience, experience working with first generation and other student populations, and an ability to teach statistics or math education are preferred.
The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Western is not able to offer visa sponsorship for this position at this time.
SALARY/BENEFITS: $50,000 annualized salary. Western offers an excellent benefits package including shared premiums for a comprehensive health insurance plan, dental insurance, retirement plan, life insurance, and other insurance options. After one year of employment, Western provides free tuition for dependents enrolled full time in undergraduate programs for up to four years. Western has acquired local rental agreements for newly hired employees moving to the Gunnison Valley, which if available, may serve as housing for a year. Upon hire, contact information for housing opportunities will be provided by the Human Resources department.
