Faculty Position in Spanish
POSITION: Western Colorado University invites applications for a non-tenure-track full-time Lecturer in Spanish. This position works in-person, on our campus in Gunnison, Colorado.
DUTIES: Western’s Spanish program provides students with curriculum in language, literature, linguistics, history, and culture of Spanish-speaking countries. The program houses several majors, a minor, and multiple certificates, and provides a supportive, compassionate, and inclusive environment for dedicated professionals. Position responsibilities include teaching SPAN courses, including SPAN 101, 270, 324, 341, and 370.
The successful candidates will teach up to four SPAN courses per semester (24 credit hours annually) and receive reassign time for service, with a primary focus on recruitment. Recruitment activities could include school, campus events, prospective student outreach, and other duties as assigned. Strong commitment to effective and inclusive teaching practices, service, and recruitment is expected.
SALARY: $51,000 depending on qualifications and experience. Western offers an excellent benefits package including shared premiums for a comprehensive health insurance plan, dental insurance, retirement plan, life insurance, and other insurance options.
START DATE: August 18, 2025
QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s Degree in Spanish or related discipline from an accredited institution with at least 18 graduate credits in Spanish. Excellent interpersonal skills and the capacity to work with a diverse population of students. One or more years of Spanish teaching experience preferred.
