Join Our Team as a Diesel Truck Mechanic in Rapid City, SD!
Western Construction is looking for a skilled diesel truck mechanic to work with our exception maintenance team. This position will perform preventative maintenance, analyze, troubleshoot, and identify sources of mechanical failures, make necessary repairs, and perform overhauls as needed on our fleet of diesel trucks and trailers. The majority of the work will be done indoors, with only occasional trips to the field, if necessary.
Responsibilities :
- Dismantle equipment as necessary to correct unit failure, assemble, and adjust, i.e., overhaul engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, etc.
- Advanced knowledge of a vehicle, its electrical system, and the mechanisms of a diesel engine
- In-depth knowledge of diesel engine components and operational mechanisms
- Superior knowledge of maintenance tools and repair equipment
- Comfortable using mechanical and electrical power tools
- Basic knowledge of computer systems and other relevant electronics
- Proficiency in the use of diesel engine diagnostic software
- Effective collaboration and communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using appropriate tools and equipment for the task, and proper personal protective equipment.
- Demonstrate and promote safety and proper housekeeping on all job sites and in the shop.
- Work independently, and with others as needed.
- Maintain proper shop paperwork.
- Take direction and accomplish duties outlined by your supervisor and ask questions when you do not understand the task.
- Be dependable to your team : You work as a team and progress as a team.
- Perform other duties as assigned
