Job Summary: The Broker Manager is responsible for the proper management of all WD Logistics brokers, internal policy compliance, and overall performance. The Broker Manager ensures that all WD Logistics brokerage team members are being utilized to their fullest potential in a safe and cost-effective manner.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Organizes and oversees the schedules and work of direct reports
Provide oversight, leadership support, and training to WD Logistics supervisors and brokers
Develop action plans, audit operations, and propose efficiency improvements
Recruits and interviews prospective employees and chooses the best applicant based on skills, knowledge, and abilities required for the job
Provides orientation and training for new employees
Completes performance evaluations that are timely and constructive
Communicates expectations, coaches for improvement, and distributes discipline as necessary according to policy
Essential Functions:
Responsible for the oversight of broker supervisors, brokers, and scheduling operations
Oversees daily broker supervisor and broker operations workflow in accordance with the standard operating procedures
Answers the phone in a professional manner
Ensures that correct, accurate, and timely load information is entered into transportation management software (TMW)
Maintains strong carrier relationships
Ensures customer destination assignments are met and communicates any variance to Customer Relations.
Ensures that daily reports are communicated at shift change and to management
Audits prior day loads, compares to load assignments, and communicates deviations, internally and externally
Ensures carriers are following load assignments to destinations
Audits the repairs error listing in TMW for billing and payroll and communicates corrections to respective departments
Reports producer and customer inquiries promptly to Customer Relations
Communicates carrier issues/problems promptly to Carrier Relations
Travel within designated region as needed
Represent the organization at conferences, trade shows, and networking events to promote services and expand market presence
Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Valid Driver’s license in state of residency with acceptable driving record
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and submit to the company random drug and alcohol program
Minimum 2 years of experience in logistics operations
Proficient in basic computer skills, Microsoft Office suite and Google Workspace
Communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of internal and external staff
Manage multiple tasks independently to meet deadlines
Ability to adapt to changing schedules and priorities
Ability to work any schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays and travel as needed to any terminal or location
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Ability to lead and influence others
Knowledge of DOT, FMCSA regulations, or the transportation industry
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in Transportation or Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field
Advanced knowledge of TMW software
Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with tank endorsement
Five years or more leadership or supervisory experience
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
