What are the responsibilities and job description for the Campus Store Coordinator position at Western Dakota Technical College?
Under the direction and guidance of the Director of Accounting, coordinates all Campus Store activities for the College consisting of assisting academics with textbook adoptions, digital media, toolkits and laptop requirements and ordering; ordering and merchandising of branded, food/beverages, and general merchandise in a profitable manner.

Working Conditions:
This is a full-time position and most of the work to be performed will be done in a college retail store environment. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30p.m. Additional work after hours may be required to meet deadlines or to attend college functions. There may also be times when travel is required for meetings or training. This position may occasionally require evenings and weekend hours as necessary.
Physical Demands:
The majority of the duties of this position are light work in nature. However, on occasion, it will be necessary to perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to, lifting heavy items (up to 50 lbs. unassisted), bending, standing, climbing, twisting or walking.
- Achieve timely and complete textbook adoptions by coordinating with academics.
- Assists students with their online accounts and purchasing of their textbooks.
- Timely purchasing of tools and uniform items for scholarship students.
- Coordinates textbook buyback process and ships rental returns and sell-back books to vendor.
- Opens and closes store in accordance with detailed procedures.
- Maintains the storeroom and front store service area in a neat and orderly manner.
- Optimizes inventory to keep store stocked with food and beverage items, office and school supplies, and branded merchandise, while maintaining a high turn ratio to stock-on-hand to ensure profitability.
- Performs retail sales activities that include processing cash and credit card transactions and preparing weekly deposits.
- Plans and administers creative merchandising, store marketing, and timely clearance strategies to maximize revenue.
- Keeps the mailroom/copy center stocked and organized.
- Crosstrain personnel and student workers; monitors the work of student employees.
- Cross-trains and serves as back-up in other departments.
Associate degree (Bachelor’s preferred) in business administration, retail management, or related field and at least three year’s work-related experience. Ability to work in a proactive and resourceful manner. Must have excellent organizational and customer service skills and a positive attitude.

- Customer Service utilizing effective verbal and written communications with a diverse customer base in a welcoming and friendly manner.

- Supervision of work study students.
- Oral and written communication and presentation skills to effectively provide detailed information and training with clarity.
- Reading, interpreting, applying, and explaining rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Organization and prioritization of workload.
- Demonstrate attention to detail, precision, and accuracy and in accordance with set deadlines.
