What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shop Service Technician position at Western Diesel Services Inc?
CK Power is looking for an experienced Shop Service Technician at our St. Louis, MO location. You will perform scheduled and emergency installation, maintenance, and repair on diesel engines, generators, and heavy equipment. Option of 5x8 hour or 4x10 hour days.
What You’ll Do:
- Diagnose and complete complex and routine installation, maintenance, or repairs to customer equipment and components.
- Apply the use of specialized tools and follow documented procedures and policies to diagnose and complete repairs, including identifying and preparing required parts and tools.
- Perform preventative maintenance activities as per documented schedules and standards on power generation products.
- Complete required documentation, such as service worksheets, timesheets, warranty claims, quality documents via handwritten forms or CK Power / Customer business systems.
- Ensure compliance with all Health, Safety & Environmental policies, procedures, and legislation and report any issues / incidents to site management and to direct supervisor.
- Ensure compliance with all CK Power policies and procedures.
- Complete training in line with skill and business requirements.
- Occasionally support Field Service Technicians with field service work.
What You’ll Need:
- High school diploma or equivalent.

Engine rebuild experience.
- Strong general mechanical and diagnostic ability.
- Ability to provide own hand tools and appropriate storage.
- Ability to learn various software programs for diagnostic equipment.
- Resourcefulness, ability to figure out viable solutions to resolve problems.
- High motivation and ability to maintain a high level of task focus. Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Customer-focused and results-driven attitude.
- Strong verbal and written communication proficiency.
What Helps:
- Experience with centrifugal pumps and air compressors preferred.
- Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and Electrical Generating Systems Association (EGSA) certifications a plus.
- Relevant trade or technical school experience or certifications a plus.
