Job Description
The Principal Equipment Engineer must have strong equipment engineering background and experience. They are responsible for the specification, project management, design review and qualification testing of the new tools. They work closely with Process Engineering, Maintenance, vendors and other teams to define, improve and monitor equipment reliability, throughput and process capability.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Take ownership of the new equipment specification, technical negotiation with vendors, design and documentation review, tool installation, and qualification testing and documentation.
- Lead or be an active team member to drive continuous improvement programs to improve equipment performance and reliability.
- Provide accurate and detailed documentation as well as training in basic and advanced maintenance and troubleshooting skills.
- Review and evaluate tool and spare parts related inputs from Maintenance organizations.
- Respond to scrapped wafers that occur due to equipment or maintenance related incidences.
- Define and review regularly the minimum and maximum spares quantities on critical and long lead items.
- Establish, review regularly, and respond to SPC out of control situation for equipment parameters.
- Keep track of the down tool situation and provide verbal and written instructions to support teams upon request.
- Keep track and learn the applicable new equipment and process technologies for potential wafer fab applications.
- The Equipment Engineer candidate is a highly motivated individual who has at least 8 years’ experience with a B.S. or at least 6 years’ experience with an M.S. degree.
- Degrees must be in electrical, mechanical, or related Engineering or physical science.
- The candidate must demonstrate technical capability and positive results in Wet Etch, Plating, or CMP process equipment.
- The applicant must be a strong problem solver, organized and quality driven.
- Required experiences include in-depth understanding and practice of equipment design and testing.
- The position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong project management and people skills.
- They must know how to effectively work with technicians and be able to clearly transfer technical knowledge and instructions.
- PC skills include JMP, MS Excel, Project, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. CAD and geometric tolerance experience are highly preferred.
- An employee’s pay position within the salary range may be based on several factors including education, qualifications, certifications, and experience.
- The salary range is applicable for jobs to be performed in California, Colorado, New York or remote jobs that can be performed in these states.
- You will be eligible to participate in Western Digital’s Short-Term Incentive (STI) Plan.
