What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer 2025 Intern Failure Analysis Engineering Gen AI focus position at Western Digital?
The intern will be involved in the development of failure analysis automation tools for Solid State Drives and NAND flash memory. This role requires a solid understanding in machine learning including Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and Large Language Models (LLMs). Candidate must code effectively in Python ElasticSearch and Jupiter Notebook. Ideal candidates would complete a MS in Computer Science AI Engineering Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering between December 2025 and June 2026.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Develop failure analysis automation tools related to SSDs and NAND flash memory.
- Design train and optimize machine learning models with a focus on CNN and LLM.
- Automated compilation and organization of technical data to share with SSD and NAND Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
- Document design tool implementation testing and validation results and data analysisfindings for communicationand transparency.
