Essential Duties & Responsibilities :
Western Digital is seeking a summer intern to work within our Operations Research & Analytics team.
The Advanced Analytics Office at Western Digital leads an operations optimization to enhance production and supply chain efficiency leveraging an internally developed analytics platform. The platform has been implemented at various factories globally and added significant business value.
During this internship you will be a part of a dynamic team working closely with factory operations and you will develop operations research and analytics solutions solving factory / supplychain capacity planning and optimization problems. This is a unique opportunity to be a part of a team thats instrumental in Western Digitals Industry 4.0 journey. We are changing the way how analytics is used across global operations sites.
The internship covers the following activities :
Collecting information about the optimization problem understand the related current practices and the desired solution.
Defining and implementing an optimization (MILP MINLP CP) model and implement it in Python language.
Conducting numerical experiments with the model(s) and present the results to the key project stakeholders.
Qualifications : Required :
- Currently seeking a BS or MS degree in Operations Research Industrial Engineering or a related field with a graduation date between December 2025June 2026.
- Familiarity with industrial engineering concepts e.g. WIP management production control manufacturing process and cycle time etc.
- Familiarity with declarative modeling tools (e.g. IBM CPLEX FICO Xpress GoogleOR tools etc.)
- Ongoing MS studies in Industrial Engineering Applied Math Operations Research Computer Science or a related field.
- Good abstraction skills and problemsolving ability.
