We are hiring Summer Inclusion Support Staff to assist individuals with disabilities as they participate in park district programs.
We're looking for college students, teachers, paraprofessionals, retirees, or anyone who has the desire to make a difference.
Job Description:
- Support children, teens, or adults with special needs - helping them have FUN, socialize, grow, and achieve.
- You could work at any of the following: Summer Day Camps, Before/After Care, swim lessons, team sports, martial arts, gymnastics, dance, coding, and many other recreational programs.
- Camps & Programs will have leaders/coaches. You’ll support one individual 1:1.
- Job Title: Inclusion Support Staff
- Note: This is a seasonal summer position, with the possible option of continuing with us in the fall and beyond.
Responsibilities:
- As they participate with peers, assist an individual in the ways they need (emotionally, behaviorally, communication, adapt/simplify, hand-over-hand, redirection, etc.).
Where:
- You could work in any of our 9 communities: Bloomingdale, Carol Stream, Glen Ellyn, Naperville, Roselle, Warrenville, West Chicago, Wheaton, or Winfield.
- Locations: Park District summer camps, pools, sports fields, gyms, etc.
Hours/Schedule:
- We’re flexible. We have many types of positions and options for you to choose from! Let us know which days, hours, and types of programs you’d like to work - to see if it aligns with our needs.
- You could work up to 40 hours a week or as little as 1 hour if you prefer - based on your availability, preferences, skillset, and our scheduling needs.
- Frequency: Some meet daily M-F, while others are once a week or one-time special events. Most are on weekdays, with some on weekends.
- Programs run between 7am – 9pm. (Let us know which hours are best for you.)
- Length: between 1–8 hours. (Examples: Soccer on Tuesdays from 4p-5p; Summer Camp M-F from 8a-4p)
- Programs last between 4–12 weeks long.
- You could assist the same person each time. For consistency, we prefer you commit for the duration of the program.

Requirements:
- Must be able to perform job duties independently of others.
- Firsthand experience providing direct support to individuals with special needs.
- Ability to effectively communicate with individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Be comfortable & capable of meeting various needs (behavioral, sensory, personal).
- Age 16 , with access to reliable transportation.
