What are the responsibilities and job description for the Service Manager position at Western Equipment Llc?
Purpose: Manages service operations within the dealership to maximize return on investment. Accurately leverages Service Department processes to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction. Grows profitable labor sales and exercises disciplined expense control. Attracts, retains, and effectively engages department personnel.
- Develops, communicates, enforces and monitors effective Service Department processes to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction
- Schedules and assigns jobs to employees in the Service Department according to their skills and knowledge
- Reviews work orders for completeness and accuracy prior to customer billing; goal is to treat customers fairly, yet efficiently recover our time & material
- Executes Service Department marketing plan (promotions, specials, packages, etc.) and monitors monthly to ensure achievement of departmental goals
- Manages recruiting, staffing and employee development activities for employees reporting to this position
- Submits all service warranty and PIP claims with necessary information within the required timeframe to receive maximum credits
- Creates an annual Service Department Goals, in alignment with the organizations financial and operational objectives
- Ensures all departmental tools, equipment, and vehicles are in good working order and inventory is accurate
- Handle any after-hours situations that may arise; including being on call when needed
- 3 years experience in Service Department Operations
- Ability to use standard desktop load applications such as Microsoft Office and internet functions
- Ability to write and speak effectively to individuals and groups
- Familiar with John Deere competitive produces
- Basic understanding of financial principals relative to Service Department operations
- Ability to analyze and interpret internal reports
- Ability to work extended hours
