The Western Foothills Land Trust, based in Norway, Maine, is seeking an Executive Director.
The Executive Director Job Description:
Organization Mission and Strategy
- With the Board of Directors, prepare and implement long-term strategic plans and annual operating plans.
Organization Operations
- Develop and monitor an annual budget and oversee overall management of the fiscal operations of the land trust in cooperation with the Finance Manager, Board Treasurer and Finance Committee.
- Human resources management, including hiring, supervising, training, and disciplining staff and volunteers.
- Effective administration of WFLT’s operations, including corporate, non-profit, and fundraising.
- Provide oversight of land transactions, land stewardship and programming.
- Directing the ongoing process of preparing for LTA accreditation.
- Compliance with all internal policies and procedures, legal requirements, financial standards, and with the standards and practices of the Land Trust Alliance.
Community Engagement, Fundraising and Development
- Develop and implement fundraising plans for the annual cycle and 3-year cycle
- Identify, cultivate, and solicit major gift prospects (individuals, corporations and foundations).
- Supervise systematic efforts to identify, solicit, steward, maintain, and upgrade annual giving donors/members.
- Understand and effectively articulate WFLT’s mission, program areas, properties, and current projects to the public and share goals and successes with donors, constituents, and other community members.
- Develop and implement annual strategic community engagement and communications plans, which may include social media and press outlets.
- Maintain positive community relations through media outreach, relationships with community leaders, and collaborative professional partnerships.
- In coordination with the Programs Director, plan and deliver fundraising events, including the Snowshoe Festival, Norway Triathlon and Summer Gathering.
Collaborations
- Serve on the Sebago Clean Waters Executive Committee
Board Governance
- With the Board Executive Committee, coordinate efforts of the Board of Directors and Committees, including policy, planning, governance, fundraising, and fiduciary oversight.
The Executive Director reports to the Board President.
