Western Home Communities is hiring a full-time Accounts Payable Specialist to join our business office. In this role, you’ll be responsible for the full accounts payable process—from coding and entering invoices to reviewing purchase orders, routing for department approval, and issuing timely payments to vendors. You'll work daily with financial software and our automated PO system to ensure accurate data entry and compliance with internal procedures. This position requires a high level of attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage tasks independently in a deadline-driven environment.
What you’ll do as an Accounts Payable Specialist:
Code, process, and pay vendor invoices using financial software and automated PO systems
Review purchase orders (POs) for completeness and match them to corresponding invoices
Route invoices for department review and GL coding approvals
Verify the accuracy of coding and invoice details before posting to the financial system and releasing to vendors
Communicate with internal teams and vendors to resolve invoice discrepancies or missing documentation
Maintain up-to-date and organized records of invoices, payments, and vendor files
Assist with month-end close processes and provide documentation as needed for audits
Support process improvement efforts within the accounts payable function
Ensure timely, professional responses to vendor and staff inquiries
Requirements of an Accounts Payable Specialist:
2 year degree or equivalent experience in Accounting
High school diploma or its equivalent.
(Preferred) Previous Accounts Payable experience
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Proven organizational abilities and time management skills.
Must be able to manage several projects simultaneously paying close attention to details.
Must be able to read, speak and write fluent English.
