TITLE: Child Family Educator PROGRAM: Head Start
POSITION SUMMARY: Performs all job responsibilities in a safe manner. Must adhere to the Standards of Conduct which includes that no child is left alone or unsupervised and follow reporting systems. Supports school readiness. Supports family and child health outcomes. Coordinates parent engagement for Head Start parents. Completes home visits and assists parents in goal setting for self-sufficiency. Acquire knowledge of community resources to aid participant’s growth and be a team player.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have or be willing to obtain within 18 months of hire a credential or certification in social work, human services, family services, counseling or in a related field.
- One year prior experience working with adult education and/or social services.
- One year prior experience working with preschool children or in a child development program.
- Ability to maintain records on a computer system or willing to learn.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Have a current Idaho Food Handler card or be willing to obtain and keep current.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is desirable, but not always required. The primary language in the workplace is English.
- Valid Driver’s license and access to a privately owned vehicle with liability insurance for use in completing work responsibilities as needed.
** Documented on the job, WICAP education and/or experience may be used as an equivalent to some of the experience and qualifications needed.
OCCUPATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Regular kneeling, stooping, pulling, standing, sitting and bending.
- Occasional lifting in excess of 50 lbs.
- Daily visual observations of participants.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise preschool children and ensure a safe learning environment. This includes the physical ability to move quickly in order to respond to children who are very active and may need redirection or restraint in order to ensure their safety or the safety of others in the environment.
- Occasional driving for home visits sometimes in outlying areas.
- Must have or be willing to obtain a Pediatric First Aid CPR/AED Infant, Child and Adult certification within 60 days from the date of hire.
- No prior convictions of child abuse/neglect. Criminal History background clearance.
- External Employees must complete and clear a Physical and TB screen upon conditional offer to hire.
- Successful completion of a Driving License record that meets WICAP’s insurance requirements.
- External Employees must complete and clear Drug and Alcohol screening upon conditional offer to hire.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensures that no child is left unattended.
- Ensure safety is a priority in performing all job responsibilities. Attend safety trainings and ensure adherence to the safety policy.
- Schedules and organizes their time to meet all job expectations in a timely.
- Follows requirements outlined in policies, regulations, and operational procedures.
- Participate in the recruitment of participants.
- Paperwork and reports are completed accurately and timely.
- Coordinate parent engagement activities as outlined in operational procedures.
- Assist families to achieve self-sufficiency by establishing a family partnership plan.
- Become familiar with available community resources.
- Support parents in keeping their child current on the EPSDT guidelines.
11. Ensure the facility is monitored for safety and is kept in a clean and sanitary condition.
12. Ensure playgrounds and outside areas are maintained and kept clean and sanitary.
- Model a Respectful Workplace Policy when interacting with WICAP customers, community members, and colleagues.
- Be responsible for ensuring compliance with confidentiality policy and HIPPA regulations.
- Perform other relevant responsibilities as required by the program and as outlined in position expectations.
- Maintain current, valid driver’s license and liability insurance at all times on any personal vehicle used to conduct WICAP business.
- Participate in professional development, sometimes off-site, at the request and of the supervisor.
- Assure that a positive image of WICAP is portrayed at all times.

Entry Rate is $17.69 per hour
