Position Objective:
The primary objective of the Production Manager role is to lead the production team in driving the Portland Branch's market reputation by delivering systems on time, within budget, and defect-free. The Production Manager will build a highly engaged and competent team, schedule production resources, and support sales in every way possible to impress customers and win manufacturing business. The Production Manager will ensure that the Production team is appropriately trained with ongoing development opportunities and set up to succeed.
Minimum Educational Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Electrical preferred), or equivalent work experience directly applicable to the qualifications listed below.
Required Qualifications:
• Five years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, consistently achieving or surpassing operational goals. This experience includes leading projects, managing resources, and guiding teams to success
• Deep understanding of process and product specifications, with demonstrated ability to drive improvements in efficiency and quality.
• Knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems/schematics or the ability to gain proficiency within 6 months of hire.
• Strong problem analysis and resolution skills, with a history of resolving complex operational challenges.
• Exposure to an environment that includes machining, fabrication, and assembly operations, with proven ability to optimize workflows.
• Proven ability to use critical thinking and problem-solving skills to drive results.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively lead and align a team with organizational goals.
• Solid leadership experience, with the ability to motivate, mentor, and develop team members to meet production goals with a focus on safety, compliance, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Proven experience in ERP systems and Smartsheet applications to manage workflows and improve operations.
Desired Qualifications:
1. Experience applying Lean tools to improve shop performance and morale with measurable results.

Primary job functions:
• Supervision and Mentorship: Lead and develop a team of shop technicians across multiple disciplines (welding, fabrication, machining, etc.), ensuring continuous improvement in team performance, safety, and productivity.
• Safety Leadership: Implement best practices and track safety metrics to achieve and maintain high safety standards and ensure zero major safety incidents.
• Timecard and Labor Accuracy: Maintain accuracy in timecard entries and labor vouchering to jobs, ensuring no discrepancies or delays in production.
• Job Closing Excellence: Ensure job costing, Bill of Material (BOM) accuracy, profit margin analysis, and Lessons Learned documentation are completed on time, leading to reduced rework and improved margins.
• Performance Reviews: Provide actionable feedback and conduct annual performance reviews for all team members, driving measurable improvements in team development and individual performance.
• Production Scheduling: Adhere to the production schedule that meets P21 order demand requirements, aiming to complete production on time.
• Cost Efficiency: Drive cost reductions through process optimization.
• Manufacturing Standards: Set and maintain industry-leading manufacturing standards emphasizing quality, accuracy, and efficiency.
• Documentation of SOPs: Ensure all repetitive tasks have clear, up-to-date Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Engineering Communication: Proactively communicate any field changes to Bills of Materials to Engineering for accurate project build documentation, ensuring reduced change orders.
• Continuous Improvement Projects: Lead initiatives to enhance performance and employee engagement in improvement activities.
• Quality Performance: Ensure all manufacturing processes meet or exceed defined production and quality standards, with zero significant quality failures.
