What are the responsibilities and job description for the Instructor I, Hospitality Management and Dietetics position at Western Kentucky University?
The Department of Applied Human Sciences at Western Kentucky University is pleased to announce we are accepting applications for a nine-month, non-tenure eligible appointment at the rank of Instructor I. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for education, a deep understanding of hospitality management, the food service industry, and the ability to inspire the next generation of hospitality professionals. This is a full-time position focused on delivering high-quality instruction and contributing to the growth and success of the Hospitality Management and Dietetics program.
Skills and Expertise:
- In-depth knowledge of the hospitality industry, including management principles, foodservice operations, P&L statements, menus, food safety, quality assurance/performance improvement, and supply chain.
- Ability to teach food labs
- Culinary skills
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to create and implement engaging, forward-thinking curriculum
Key Responsibilities include:
- Teaching multiple classes including food preparation labs, menu writing and planning, food sanitation, management principles and other classes related to hospitality management.
- Additional responsibilities include: development and delivery of web-based courses; curriculum development; work with student organizations and relevant industry groups; promotion of the program; student advisement, community service, and participation on departmental, college and university committees.
Job Requirements:
The candidate must hold a master's degree in a relevant field of study and have experience in foodservice and foodservice management.
