Overview
The Co-Responder plays a vital role in providing immediate support and intervention for individuals experiencing crises related to mental health, substance use, or behavioral challenges. This position involves collaboration with law enforcement and mental health professionals to ensure that individuals receive appropriate care and resources. The Co-Responder will work in the community, responding to calls for assistance and providing guidance, mentorship, and support to those in need.
Duties
- Respond to crisis situations alongside law enforcement to assess individuals' needs and provide appropriate interventions.
- Conduct assessments to identify mental health or substance use issues and develop tailored action plans.
- Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to engage clients and encourage positive behavior change.
- Provide addiction counseling and support for individuals struggling with substance use disorders.
- Facilitate access to behavioral health services, including Medicare resources and Section 8 housing assistance.
- Mentor clients through recovery processes, offering guidance and support as they navigate available resources.
- Supervise and collaborate with other team members to ensure comprehensive care is provided.
- Maintain accurate documentation of interactions, assessments, and referrals in compliance with organizational policies.
Qualifications
- Experience in addiction counseling or behavioral health is preferred.
- Strong skills in crisis intervention and crisis management are essential.
- Background in social work or related fields is beneficial.
- A compassionate approach with the ability to remain calm under pressure is crucial for success in this role.
