General Summary
Directs a full-service writing center that helps maintain a culture of writing and academic integrity through consultations, workshops, and material development.
Major Duties
- Designs, implements and assesses programming to meet the needs of students, staff, faculty, and alumni. Collaborates with other departmental programs to increase student resource utilization.
- Collects and evaluates data relevant to student success and initiatives to inform future decision-making, policies, and procedures.
- Aids students, staff, faculty, and alumni better understand their individual writing related issues. Executes writing strategies at all stages of the writing process.
- Creates courses, workshops and training materials. Updates promotional materials. Presents to students, teaching assistants, faculty, staff, classes, and campus organizations.
- Supervises independent research.
- Maintains an active research agenda. Presents original scholarships at professional conferences. Publishes in peer-reviewed and non-peer-reviewed journals.
- Hires, trains, evaluates, and supervises student employees.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in related field from an accredited institution.
- Two years’ relevant experience.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with coursework in rhetoric writing and writing cross the curriculum theory and pedagogy.
- Knowledge of student development and writing development needs.
- Knowledge of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) on-line instruction.
- Excellent writing skills.
- Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including weekends and holidays.

Physical requirements and working conditions
- Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
