Job Summary
This full-time Fieldman position is located in Carrizo Springs, TX and will be a member of western Midstream’s Maverick Basin Midstream Gathering Operations team. This technician position provides support and oversight to the Company’s External Corrosion Prevention Program. WES operates and maintains over 11,000 miles of Natural Gas (Transmission, Gathering, Fuel Gas), 2,000 miles of Hazardous Liquid (Oil, NGL, Condensate), and 1,000 miles of water pipelines throughout the US Onshore Region. A significant portion of these pipelines are regulated by federal, state, and local jurisdictions, particularly DOT 192 and 195.
This External Corrosion Prevention position is tasked with the field execution of corrosion prevention efforts for Western Midstream operated liquids, natural gas systems and facilities.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Certifications/Licenses
Valid driver's license with no restrictions that would prohibit driving a company vehicle
AAMP (NACE) certifications are preferred
Travel Requirements
The percentage of travel required for this position is 0 - 10%.
Work Schedule
This is a standard 8 hour day shift and may be required to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as scheduled. This position covers 24 hour operations and must be available for 24/7 on call. Candidate must live within 85 miles of Carrizo Springs, TX. WES reserves the right to change working schedules if it is required by business.

Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of external corrosion prevention experience with pipeline and facilities (oil, gas and water gathering, transferring, and processing) is required
- Competent knowledge in corrosion prevention with an understanding of protective coatings and linings, cathodic protection, internal corrosion monitoring and prevention, materials selection and design, project support, corrosion mechanisms and mitigation techniques
- Proficient electrical knowledge including alternating current, direct current, and electrochemical theory
- Proficient operational knowledge of pipelines, facilities, and the products that are transported
- Proficient testing equipment knowledge including Allegro field computer, multi-meters, reference electrodes, line locators, current interrupters, and data loggers
- Proficient survey technique knowledge including annual survey, interference testing, isolation testing, close interval survey, direct current voltage gradient, alternating current voltage gradient, soil resistivity
- Working knowledge of the various Federal and State pipeline and facility regulations including corrosion control, integrity management, and industry standards
- NACE Cathodic Protection Technician certification, or higher preferred
- A high degree of personal organization and self-management
- Strong initiative to work efficiently with accurate results
- Ability to multi-task in a fast paced, changing environment with strong analytical and time management skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively interface with a wide variety of people, both internal and external to Western Midstream
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), Pipeline Compliance System (PCS), Allegro Field Computers, and Detechtion Software (WES Internal Corrosion Prevention database)
- Perform and/or coordinate annual surveys, bi-monthly rectifier and bond inspections, interference testing, close interval surveys, insulator tests and identify shorts, identify, and mitigate HVAC interference
- Prepare and submit, in a timely manner, all survey and test records, progress reports, and other documentation, as needed
- Maintain all appropriate records within Pipeline Compliance System database
- Perform atmospheric coating inspections on above ground facilities and pipe exposures.
- Assist with prioritization and planning of coating projects based on inspection data.
- Maintain all appropriate records within Pipeline Compliance System database
- Maintain compliance with Federal and State regulatory agencies governing corrosion control
- Understand and comply with all codes, regulations, reporting procedures, and standard practices, including, but not limited to DOT Part 192, Part 195, and Western Midstream Procedure Manuals.
- Ensure deficiencies are effectively corrected within a timely manner and in accordance with all Federal, State and Western Midstream guidelines
- Comply and support the Operator Qualification (OQ) program
- Perform Operator Qualification evaluations on Western Midstream and contract personnel in accordance with the Western Midstream OQ program.
- Support regulatory audits, as needed
- Stay current with facility and pipeline regulations, industry standards, corrosion prevention and assessment methods, and other applicable technologies
- Analyze all corrosion data and create and initiate mitigation plans.
- Develop and maintain annual deficiency reports on WES assets.
- Assist in the development and approval of Corrosion Prevention related projects.
- Responsible for the creation and acquiring approval of corrosion prevention job plans.
- Manage corrosion prevention projects as assigned.
- Coordinate/schedule Corrosion Prevention projects with Operations, Engineering, Surface Land, Asset Integrity and HSSE.
- Track and communicate Corrosion Prevention project costs monthly
- Work jointly with Asset Integrity to provide Corrosion Prevention system design review and recommendation on new pipeline and facility projects with regards to material selection and design, protective coatings and linings, cathodic protection, internal corrosion prevention and monitoring
- Incorporate newly operated assets into the Corrosion Prevention Program
- Communicate and work closely with other groups such as local field Operations, Project Engineering, Surface Land and Asset Integrity
- Assist other groups will all Corrosion Prevention related activities, as necessary
- Assist local Operations in emergency response situations
