What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Labor position at Western Milling?
Overview
This is an entry-level position that supports production by sweeping, cleaning and operating various pieces of equipment.
Responsibilities
- Clean-up left-over product around tanks and other equipment.- Operate forklift to support production on a daily basis.- Stack bags of product in a concise and consistent manner.- Cross-train with other departments to provide consistency throughout the Company.- Provide back-up support for other roles as necessary. - Available for overtime work on a scheduled or call-in basis, as necessary.- Other duties as assigned by the manager/supervisor.
Qualifications
A high school diploma, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Forklift experience; certification preferred.
Basic operating knowledge of augers, belt-driven machinery, elevators, and other equipment used in the production process
Skills
Ability to pay attention to detail among constant distractions.
Ability to communicate concerns/problems to manager/supervisor on a professional level.
Physical Requirments
- Continuously lift/move/push/pull objects weighing up to and including 50-pounds; regularly lift/move/push/pull objects weighing up to and including 75-pounds.- Continuously shovel material.- Frequently climbs ladders; occasionally works at heights of 100 feet.- Frequently stoop/crouch/bend/climb/push/pull objects to complete the essential functions of this position.- Vision sufficient to safely perform the essential job tasks.

- Continuously exposed to outdoor/uncontrolled weather conditions.- Regularly exposed to work near moving parts/equipment.- Regularly exposed to major amounts of dust.- Regularly exposed to moderate to severe noise levels.- Occasionally exposed to chemicals used in the manufacturing process.
