Each supports the development of the bedside nurse and fosters empowerment through knowledge to achieve excellence and standardization through the delivery of evidence- based nursing practice. This occurs through the facilitation of the educational process through assessment, development, planning, implementation and evaluation of competency assessment, continuing education, and leadership development. As a role model of professional behavior, the CNC is instrumental in creating a professional nursing climate within WMMC to meet the needs of the diverse departments.

Essential Functions
- Seek opportunities to develop staff in various roles.
- Lead committees, work groups and/or projects related to the implementation of educational activities.
- Serve as a role model for education and professional nursing practice.
- Serve as an educational consultant to facilities, task forces, committees, and projects relating to policy, procedure, and program development.
- Provide general competency courses, as well as ones specialized for specific areas.
- Conduct needs assessments annually.
- Develop/coordinate education plans related to the initial and ongoing competency validation.
- Support staff development with educational activities (which include remediation, certification, mentoring, life support, JCAHO requirements, product rollouts, etc.).
- Assist co-workers as needed/requested.
- Support the Medical Center’s Mission/Vision/Philosophy positively.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Perform other essential duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate of accredited school of professional nursing.
- Currently licensed to practice as a professional Registered Nurse in the state of Missouri.
- BSN is required or obtained within 3 years of hire date.
- Have immediate experience of working for 3 years.
- Current BLS required.
- Current ACLS or obtain within 6 months.
- Current PALS or obtain within 6 months.
- Current TNCC or obtain within 6 months.
- Must be self-motivated and able to work within the established policies, procedures and practices prescribed by the hospital/clinic.
- Must be detail-oriented, analytical, and possess the ability to impact change and drive quality outcomes using data and multidisciplinary team.
- Must be able to sit and stand intermittently 10 to 12 hours a day.
- Must be able to use standard office equipment, including the telephone and computer keyboard.
- Continuously works under pressure of nearly 100% accuracy while meeting inflexible deadlines.
- Continuously utilizes manual/bi-manual dexterity, near vision, speech, and hearing.
- Frequently stands, walks, sits and utilizes eye/hand coordination and color definition.
- Occasionally reaches above shoulder, regularly required to lift and/or carry up to 40 lbs.
- Occasionally walks on uneven surfaces.
- Provides Education for Emergency Department staff.
- May provide Hospital wide education to all employees.
