This 12-month, full-time Student Services position is responsible to contribute to the overall vision of theStudent Success Center through the provision of academic advising and retention services. This includes working with incoming, continuing, and returning students directly, and connecting students with other important resources on campus. This position will involve both academic and career advising. Some evening and weekend work and travel is required. This position also supports other campus programs and events, including at the Alliance and Sidney campuses, which create an engaging, diverse, and healthy campus experience for the Western Nebraska Community College student body.

Monitor and support their appropriate progress toward their goals. Provide placement testing, academic program planning, course selection, registration, transfer advising, and other daily operations to support student success. Provide academic support and appropriate referrals to WNCC and external services to support student engagement, success, and retention. Provide information and services to students and stakeholders, both individually and in groups, in-person and virtually, providing flexible, inclusive meeting times, locations, and modalities to meet students’ needs.Obtain, and keep current, certification(s) related to career and academic advising, such as Strength Finders, Meyers-Briggs, etc.Support WNCC Workforce Development and non-credit offerings, enrollment, and registration as assigned.Assist with the execution of scholarship programs and academic success programming, serve as a student organization advisor, and serve on relevant committees as assigned.Fully support career pathways and advising events and programming, offering assistance when appropriate and assisting with events and programming as assigned. Provide information about career pathways as appropriate.Assist with the implementation and ongoing training and support of advising related technology.Serve as a welcoming point of contact to the Student Success Center, respond in a timely manner to phone inquiries and emails. Collaborate with WNCC departments to ensure a successful student experience.Follow WNCC policies and procedures.Perform other duties as assigned.

Alternate Sitting or Standing at Will - The ability to alternate between sitting and standing is present when a worker has the flexibility to choose between sitting or standing as needed when this need cannot be accommodated by scheduled breaks and/or lunch period.Keyboarding - Entering text or data into a computer or other machine by means of a traditional keyboard. Traditional Keyboard refers to a panel of keys used as the primary input device on a computer, typographic machine or 10-Key numeric keypad.Speaking - Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word to impart oral information to clients or the public and to convey detailed spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.Hearing Requirements - The ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds (e.g., machinery alarms, medical codes or alarms).
