My client is a medium-sized division of a larger parent company, and a renown design & manufacturer of custom infrared optical assemblies spanning IR spectrum, UV and visible spectra, many of which are first-of-their kind creations.We have recently expanded our state-of-the-art production facilityOptical Design EngineerDuties : Design & develop complex precision optical systems / components to customer specs .Evaluate & analyze optical design for performance & manufacturabilityLens design, tolerance analysis & system performance modelingSupport program deliverables - from prototype hardware to first article production units.Help develop test methods and procedures to characterize optical system performance.Develop governmental and commercial products.Design & analyze optical lenses; Monte Carlo simulation, sensitivity, tolerance analysis.Design (Zemax) optical systems using aspheres, reflective, and diffractive elements.Produce PowerPoints for optical designs & design reviews for in / external customers.Translate verbally expressed needs into clear optical specifications.Work with Manufacturing on design and process issues.Work with Opto-Mech Engineers to ensure that optical tolerances are translated correctly into engineering drawings and opto-mechanical mounting schemes.Stay current on optical science / fundamental physics principlesRequirementsBS in Optics / Physics - Proficiency with Zemax & MS Office3-12 years of relevant experienceStrong presentation / verbal / written communication skills.Analytical skills for problem identification and the planning & execution of solutionsAble to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.Team-oriented; able to listen, understand and provide timely feedbackSelf-starter; willing to learn; strong sense of ownership.Relocation assistance is available for highly qualified candidatesPlease forward your CV and a short summary of why you feel that you are a strong candidate for this position toNeil Rauch, PresidentHire Power Associates(978) 808-9898neil@hirepower.jobs
