TITLE: Pallet Repairman

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Pallet repairman is primarily responsible for repairing pallets to a specified spec. This is a part-time, second shift position where experience is highly recommended. Must be bilingual to communicate with personnel. Applicants will be operating power tools, nail guns, and saws. Pallets are repaired, graded, and then stacked. Safety and quality are the main components to this position.
Pallet repairmen are recommended to wear steel toe work boots and expected to wear all proper safety equipment at all times. Must be able to read and understand a tape measure, read spec sheets/tools and follow instructions on how to build/repair pallets to specifications.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Comply with all safety procedures at all times while performing job duties using Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), manual and power tools.
- Inspects pallets visually for defects including, but not limited to, broken boards and blocks, missing components, nail defects, debris and contamination. Correct defects that do not meet specification criteria.
- Removes damaged boards with a pry bar/hammer.
- Use a reciprocating saw and grinder to cut or remove old and bent nails.
- Attach appropriate boards according to company specs using a pneumatic nail gun and hammer.
- Perform simple math skills by adding or subtracting the number of pallets repaired.
- Restocks building supplies at the end of shift.
- Cleans pallet repair area during and at end of shift.
- May be required to work frequent overtime, weekends, or rotating shifts.
- Performs other duties as required.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Some experience in construction and/or related field.
- Ability to operate electrical and pneumatic power tools and hand tools.
- Basic Math skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying and flipping of 75-to-85-pound pallets.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Able to twist, bend, stoop, squat, reach above shoulder level and crouch on a frequent basis.
- Able to use hands and feet simultaneously and perform repetitive movements.
- Ability to lift up to 100 pounds as needed.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- The work environment consists of occasional extreme temperature shifts ranging from very cold to very hot.
- Exposure to dust and loud noise (hearing protection is provided)
- Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and moving forklifts

Monday - Friday
2nd Shift 1:00pm - 6:00pm shift differential pay
