We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Freight Broker to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the transportation of goods internally and externally to our network, facilitating capacity improvement, backhaul opportunities, and ensuring timely delivery. The ideal candidate will possess strong negotiation skills, a solid understanding of freight logistics, and the ability to build lasting customer relationships.
Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
Shift: 8 hours Monday - Friday

Duties
- Coordinate and manage freight shipments from origin to destination, ensuring all logistics are handled efficiently.
- Develop and maintain relationships with customers, providing exceptional service and support throughout the shipping process.
- Negotiate rates with Customers to secure competitive pricing while maintaining service quality.
- Utilize various software tools for sourcing, dispatching, data entry, and customer relationship management to track shipments and manage logistics.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, where applicable.
- Monitor shipment progress and proactively address any issues that may arise during transit.
- Resolve business escalation issues as they relate to ongoing carrier and customer retention.
- Lead the implementation of dedicated and repeat carrier solutions to allow for smooth onboarding and excellent ongoing service.
- Cover repeat lanes and build consistent and reliable capacity around these lanes.
- Cover spot opportunities.
- Ensure that our Customer Service group has a solid understanding of the customer requirements.
- Work to convert spot and inconsistent lanes into dedicated lanes for the customer; the goal is to build a strong base of volume and capacity within the WPL Network
Requirements
- Minimum of 3-5 years of freight brokerage experience desirable.
- Strong understanding of dispatching processes and freight logistics.
- Passionate about problem solving, relationship building, and creating customer loyalty.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Articulates thoughts and ideas clearly, concisely, and persuasively.
- Skilled at managing relationships.
- Exceptional time and project management skills.
- Proficiency in using software for data entry, tracking shipments, and managing customer interactions.
- Familiarity with Freight Brokerage boards such as DAT is a plus.
- Strong skills with the ability to negotiate effectively with customers.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
