Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced HR Manager to lead all human resources functions for our rapidly growing organization. As HR Manager, you will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing HR policies and practices that align with the company’s business objectives while fostering a positive, inclusive, and high-performance work culture. This role will be integral in supporting the company’s growth, especially as we transition from a PEO environment, build out our HR infrastructure, and scale our workforce in multiple facilities across the Rocky Mountain West.
The ideal candidate will bring strategic insight and a hands-on approach to HR, with a focus on recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and the development of an outstanding company culture that supports both talent retention and organizational success.
Key Responsibilities:
Employee Relations:
- Foster a positive and engaging workplace culture that emphasizes inclusivity, open communication, and mutual respect.
- Act as a trusted partner to employees and leadership, promoting a proactive approach to engagement and conflict resolution.
- Provide coaching to managers on employee development, performance management, and cultivating a positive environment across teams.
Recruitment & Talent Acquisition:
- Lead talent acquisition efforts to meet the growing needs of the organization, ensuring the recruitment process is effective, inclusive, and aligned with the company’s strategic objectives.
- Partner with department leaders to forecast hiring needs, develop job descriptions, and attract top talent for various roles across the organization.
- Enhance employer branding to position the company as an employer of choice in the industry.
HR Function Development & PEO Transition:
- Take an active role in building out the HR function from the ground up, ensuring it is scalable and adaptable to the company’s growth trajectory.
- Assist in transitioning from a PEO environment to an internal HR structure, ensuring smooth integration and operational effectiveness.
- Partner with leadership to define HR strategies that foster growth, culture, and employee satisfaction.
Compliance:
- Ensure HR policies and practices are compliant with federal, state, and industry-specific regulations, including DOT (Department of Transportation) and FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) guidelines.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of labor laws, safety regulations, and best practices in the trucking, warehousing, and transportation industries.
- Maintain accurate employee records, including I-9 documentation.
Performance Management:
- Develop and manage performance management systems, ensuring timely feedback, goal setting, and employee development initiatives.
- Collaborate with managers to implement employee recognition programs and strategies to enhance morale and retention.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Oversee the administration of competitive compensation and benefits programs, ensuring market alignment and internal equity.
- Work with leadership to design incentive programs for key roles, such as drivers, warehouse leads, and logistics coordinators.
- Analyze benefits usage and costs, and recommend improvements to enhance employee satisfaction and support organizational goals.
Training & Development:
- Lead the development and implementation of training programs that equip employees with the skills needed to perform their roles effectively and grow within the company.
- Promote career development opportunities, emphasizing internal mobility and retention within the organization.
- Coordinate ongoing education related to compliance, industry certifications, and professional development.
HR Metrics & Reporting:
- Maintain and analyze HR data related to turnover, absenteeism, performance, and other key metrics.
- Provide regular reports and updates to senior management regarding HR activities, workforce trends, and recommendations for improvement.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 7 years of progressive HR experience.
- Experience managing a workforce consisting of both independent contractors and company employees.
- Strong knowledge of labor laws, including wage and hour laws, FMLA, OSHA, and other relevant regulations.
- Proven ability to manage HR functions in a high-demand, fast-paced environment.
- Excellent conflict resolution, coaching, and employee relations skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred:
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or PHR certification.
- Experience in the transportation, trucking, warehousing, or logistics industry.
