DESCRIPTION:
This is a full-time, exempt, 187-day itinerant teacher position. Responsibilities include assessing the educational
performance of students who are deaf and hard of hearing to determine educational programming with an IEP team.
Plan, prepare and facilitate specialized instruction to optimize language and communication development according to
their IEP. Attend professional development to increase knowledge in the field of deaf education. Act as a liaison to
school-based instructional staff and personnel. Maintain records, data, IEP information, and log information into a
database for the LEA to monitor IEP progress. Collaborate with staff regarding student’s needs to ensure students
receive appropriate programming according to their IEP and communication plans. Performs communication equipment
checks as needed to ensure all devices, such as AAC devices, function properly.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A minimum of Bachelor’s level degree in Deaf Education with certification in Deaf Education. PA Instructional I or II certification in Deaf Education required.
SIGNING REQUIREMENTS:
The Sign Language Proficiency Interview for the position is “Advanced.” The minimum level accepted at
hire is “Intermediate.”
CLEARANCES REQUIRED:
PA Criminal Background, PA Child Abuse, and FBI Clearance required. Physical, TB and Drug Screen also required. Active CPR/First Aid Certification.
