What are the responsibilities and job description for the Warranty and Returns Tech position at Western Power Sports (WPS)?
OVERVIEW
The Warranty & Returns Technician works closely with vendors, WPS receiving centers and shipping teams to receive, trouble-shoot, and ship items returned by dealers for warranty repair or replacement.
Well-qualified individuals will have a passion for powersports and motorcycles, with some mechanical aptitude and/or dealer experience, a willingness to learn and take on new tasks, possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and display a positive “can-do” attitude when faced with challenges. This role requires the ability to work independently, and sound critical thinking and reasoning skills to understand when a warranty issue must be escalated to a manager or other stakeholder.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES
- Organize warranty returns parts for return to vendor.
- Work with the Warranty Manager and the Boise Returns department to streamline and improve the Warranty Returns and Recovery process.
- Cross train with the Warranty and Returns Manager to learn the complete warranty and returns process, including but not limited to: S2K functions (ERP) / Warranty Returns Database and Warranty Log / Analytics (Reporting) / Vendor Communication / Warranty Recovery.
- Assist with product audits, checking for potential Non-Conforming Material issues.
- Assist with Non-Conforming Material projects.
- Determine what products are viable for warranty claims, return to stock, or saleable as blemished goods.
DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of 2 years of hands-on mechanical repair experience on motorcycles is preferred.
- 2 years of experience with powersports / motorcycle industry dealers is preferred.
- Able to independently research product information.
- Ability to apply critical thinking and sound judgement when escalating warranty issues to a manager or other stakeholders.
- Active involvement in motorcycle sports is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and phone skills, coupled with an energetic attitude is of utmost importance.
- Highly motivated with ability to work independently and follow thru’ on support issues.
Possess a sense of personal accountability for assigned duties and take pride in your work.
Good computer skills, comfortable in using a variety of software programs, and possess a strong working knowledge of MS Excel and other MS Office products.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
50% office based, busy phones, medium noise level, with heavy emphasis on phones, computer work and catalog use. 50% warehouse environment. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 70 pounds and stand or walk for long periods of time.
