Summary
We are seeking a Child Support Officer to join our team at Western Prairie Human Services. This position is located in our Elbow Lake, MN office. This role is pivotal in performing a variety of duties involved in establishing and enforcing child support obligations, locating absent parents and establishing paternity. Work is performed under supervision of the Financial Assistance Manager.
Responsibilities
- Performs paralegal functions related to administrative hearings, court referrals and judgment actions.
- Establishes and enforces child support orders for public assistance and non-public assistance clients using the administrative process forum.
- Aids in the location of absent parents; interviews mothers and alleged father(s) to establish paternity, explains rights and obligations and initiates necessary legal actions.
- Works closely with the County Attorney, child support magistrates, court administrators, local attorneys, income maintenance and social service staff, employers, and a variety of other resource personnel. Other duties assigned
Requirements.
- Strong understanding of child support practices and policies is highly desirable.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience in crisis management and conflict resolution is a plus.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Education.
Associates/Technical degree with coursework in human services, criminal justice, business administration, or related field and some (1-3 years) experience in support enforcement and collections, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

This position is 40 hours a week non exempt union position, with the potential of an intermittent and remote work schedule after probation period. Anticipated beginning pay is $28.61-$39.60 per hour.
