Position Summary:
Western Protective Solutions is seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Senior/Cost Accountant to play a critical role in our finance department. This position will be responsible for providing essential support in costing methodologies, inventory management, and ERP system utilization. The Senior/Cost Accountant will also be involved in audit and exam support, product and warehouse monitoring, cycle count reporting, managing slow and obsolete inventory reduction, and assisting with month-end close and general ledger reconciliations. Responsibilities:
- Costing:
- Manage standard cost valuations, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
- Calculate overhead application rates and analyze variances.
- Inventory:
- Collaborate with Operations staff to support effective inventory management practices.
- Estimate inventory valuation for accurate financial statement presentation.
- Analyze inventory results to identify trends and opportunities for business improvement.
- ERP Support:
- Provide system support and troubleshooting for Operations and Engineering teams related to the ERP system.
- Compliance:
- Support the annual financial audit and recurring collateral examinations by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Monitoring:
- Maintain consistent monitoring of assigned products and warehouses to ensure accurate inventory records and cost controls.
- Cycle Counting:
- Support and potentially lead cycle count processes.
- Develop and maintain effective reporting of cycle count results, identifying root causes of discrepancies and recommending corrective actions.
- Slow/Obsolete Inventory:
- Keep slow-moving and obsolete inventory reporting updated across all business units.
- Collaborate with Operations to develop and implement strategies for reducing the slow-moving inventory position.
- Month-End Close:
- Work collaboratively with the Controller and the accounting team to assist with month-end close functions as needed, including journal entries and analysis.
- GL Reconciliations:
- Maintain assigned General Ledger reconciliations, ensuring they are up-to-date, accurate, and supported by appropriate documentation.
- Workplace Maintenance:
- Maintain a clean and organized workplace.
- Other Duties:
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the needs of the finance department and the organization.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
- Firm understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Proficient with mainstream desktop applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite) and current office technology.
- Experience using electronic document management systems preferred.
- Significant experience with a comprehensive ERP system is highly preferred.
