What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Access Specialist (PRN/As Needed) position at Western Reserve Hospital?
Performs registration, pre-registration, scheduling and rescheduling procedures. Verifies eligibility and obtains or verifies prior authorization was obtained for service(s). Verifies patient’s demographics and accurately inputs the information into the registration and/or scheduling application(s), including documenting the account thoroughly in order to maximize reimbursement and minimize denials/penalties from the payor(s). Verifies and understands insurance benefits. Performs point of service activities collecting copayments and self pay payments, in some instances will request copayments at the time of scheduling or pre-registration.

Experience
Required- Minimum of two years customer service experience to have included at least one year healthcare registration and/or insurance processing. o Working knowledge of computerized appointment scheduling system and insurance processing to include preauthorization and benefit verification required. o Registration, Insurance Verification/Pre-Certification, Financial counseling, and/or Patient account experience, preferably in a hospital or medical office is preferred.
Education
Required- HS Diploma or Equivalent or better
- Associate's Degree or better
