What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant, Float position at Western Reserve?
Medical assistants are responsible for providing physician support and ensuring the facility is running smoothly. This support is offered through many varied administrative tasks such as patient scheduling, assisting with referrals and authorizations, answering phones, filing, documenting, scanning, and faxing. Medical assistants also perform a variety of clinical duties such as preparing exam rooms, collecting patient vitals and specimens, assisting in minor surgical procedure injections, and other routine tasks as assigned.
Education and Training
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program; or currently enrolled in LPN school with completion of first clinical rotation.
- MA certification or registration within 6 months of hire unless currently enrolled in LPN school.
- BLS required within 30 days of hire.
Experience
One (1) year related medical office experience; or 160-hour externship completed within the last five years in a medical/office setting; or completion of first clinical rotation through LPN school.
***This position will float to multiple specialty physician practices to include: Ortho, ENT, Plastic Surgery, Urology, Cardiology, Vascular, UroGyn, Neurosurgery, General Surgery, and Bariatric Surgery
May travel to the following cities; Cuyahoga Falls, Akron, Hudson, Fairlawn, Stow, Warrensville Heights and Poland.
