Job Duties
Western State Hospital is seeking a full time Food Operations Assistant who will perform a combination of operational tasks related to the assembly and service of patient trays to include: proper assembly of patient trays; snacks and bag meals; service of items from a cold serving station or hot line; cleaning of dishes, trays, equipment, and kitchen facilities; accurate and timely delivery of retherm units and appropriate docking of retherm carts; and all work to be performed in accordance with rules and regulations of the VA Department of Health, maintaining a high level of personal hygiene.
This position will also be responsible for properly storing food to prevent food spoilage and waste; pans are replaced and cleaned regularly to ensure safety; clean, sanitize, and store all pots and pans allowing them to air dry according to the VDH and Department guidelines; and accurately assemble patient trays with correct food, beverage, condiments, and place items in proper locations according to the menu/tray ticket.

Minimum Qualifications
- ability to life moderate to heavy objects (20-50 lbs); prolonged standing and walking on various surfaces; and work when needed in various environmental conditions
- ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions and ability to read tray ticket and posted job assignments
