Job Duties
To provide direct patient care in a safe, therapeutic environment for a specific patient population in a 24 hour 7 day a week psychiatric hospital that conforms to care and treatment policies and procedures and demonstrates knowledge of population specific needs and competencies.
Experience in psychiatric nursing.
Proficiency in Spanish.

Job Duties

- Providing quality care as a part of an interdisciplinary team
- Provide work direction to PNA staff, under supervision of an RN
- Maintaining accountability in a safe, secure, and therapeutic environment
- Creating healthy interpersonal interactions on adult acute admissions unit, geriatric unit, and extended rehabilitation service unit
- Observing and reporting feedback regarding interventions, treatments, behaviors, physical and emotional wellbeing, and other situations
- Documenting and communicating
- Using specialized training for promoting mental wellness recovery
- Prioritizes time to meet patient’s needs and provides direct patient care duties as assigned and when finished with medication administration.
- Implements all individual treatment plans as written.
- Administer medications, does treatments, and reports and documents patient education and response according to policy and procedure
- Must hold or be eligible for licensure in Virginia. Individuals with compact licenses are encouraged to apply.
- Knowledge of illnesses, treatment modalities, and medication administration.
- Proven ability to implement nursing care plans and provide guidance to staff.
- Strong delegation and supervisory skills for nursing personnel.
- Effective communication skills, including written, verbal, and sign communication.
- Capability to collaborate as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Competence in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care.
- Flexibility to work overtime during staffing emergencies in a 24/7 psychiatric hospital, including potential 16-hour shifts when necessary.
- Completion of annual competency training, including TOVA III with physical restraints.
- Maintenance of Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers through the American Heart Association.
- Demonstrated understanding of recovery-focused and trauma-informed care.
Experience in psychiatric nursing.
Proficiency in Spanish.
