Job Duties
Western State Hospital is seeking a full time Nutritionist Supervisor who will manage and direct the clinical nutrition program; supervise dietary staff to ensure provision of appropriate medical nutrition therapy for all patients; support departmental management of CBORD computer system through collaboration on the management/revision of the Nutrition Services component of the CBORD system as it relates to patient diets/menus, etc.; evaluate patients’ nutritional status and dietary and nutrition education needs through initial and re-assessment processes and provide appropriate medical nutrition therapy for patients through the development and implementation and documentation in the Electronic Health Record of individualized nutrition care plans and nutrition education; function as a part of the departmental management team as the clinical nutrition advisor to the director and to work within established departmental guidelines to develop and implement nutritionally appropriate, cost-effective menus and nutrition support programs.
The Nutritionist Supervisor will ensure the requirements of the performance planning and evaluation system are met and evaluations are completed by established deadlines with proper documentation; performance issues are addressed and documented as they occur in accordance with the Standards of Conduct; and expectations are clear, well communicated and relate to the goal and objectives of the department or unit.

- Bachelor’s/ Master’s Degree in nutrition or related field from an accredited college or university
- Registered (or eligible to register) through the Commission on Dietetic Registration as a registered dietitian (RD)
- Experience in the field of nutrition gained through work as a dietetic intern, in public health nutrition, institutional dietetics, nutrition research, or related nutrition field
- Comprehensive knowledge of the scientific principles and clinical practices of nutrition and dietetics
- Good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, computer application and critical thinking skills and the ability to read, interpret and analyze reports
- Good organizational skills
- Flexibility and able to adapt to changing work tasks
- Ability to prioritize schedule and to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team
- Comfortable teaching in both a group and individual setting
- Ability to cope with the stress of balancing and prioritizing monitoring of patient nutritional requirements with other job and departmental requirements.
