Job Purpose:
Western States Reclamation (WSR) is a leading restoration contractor with over 200 team members. We specialize in wildfire rehabilitation, oil and gas pipelines, renewable energy sites, highways, and public spaces. We are a team that cares about one another and our clients. WSR is currently hiring laborers to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of landscaping tasks including mowing, edging, and maintaining landscapes, as well as caring for plants and irrigation systems. This role requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and a passion for working outdoors.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Landscape Maintenance:
- Mow, trim, edge, and blow using power equipment to maintain lawns and borders.
- Prune shrubs and low trees to promote growth and remove damaged branches.
- Plant and maintain shrubs, flowers, and trees according to landscaping plans and specifications, along with applying mulch as needed.
- Perform weeding, trash collection, and debris removal from job sites.
- Maintain a polite, friendly, and responsive demeanor with guests and customers.
- Irrigation Support:
- Assist in the installation and repair of commercial irrigation systems.
- Pre-fabricate sub-assemblies according to foreman-provided samples.
- Help with trenching, digging, and pipe installation.
- Cut and glue lateral line pipes and assemble drip tubing and fittings.
- Perform manual backfilling and troubleshooting to ensure efficient irrigation operation
General Labor and Safety:
- Operate hand tools and power equipment safely and efficiently.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas.
- Follow safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
Required Skills, Abilities, and education:
- You’re at least 18 years old.
- You’re enthusiastic, dependable, and enjoy working outdoors.
- You have experience working with landscaping tools, power saws, and cutters.
- Experience with commercial irrigation systems is a plus, but not required for entry-level candidates.
- A valid driver’s license and clean driving record are required for operating company vehicles.
- Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.
- You can work in extreme conditions, including temperatures exceeding 100°F, direct sunlight, and near water bodies.
- You can lift up to 50 lbs., bend, stoop, twist, and work in a physically demanding environment.
- Willing to work 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, with some overtime and weekend work.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).
- Ability to stand, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
- This position involves working outside in different weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain.
- Exposure to dust, noise, and potential allergens.
Benefits:
- Up to 48 hours of paid sick time per year.
- 401K plan eligibility after 60 days of employment, with company matching up to 4%.
- Health insurance eligibility on the 1st of the month following 30 days of employment. Currently, the company pays approximately 100% of the employee’s insurance under the standard plan. You may enroll in a PPO plan and add family member coverage for an additional charge.
Pay Range: $22 hour
