POSITION OVERVIEW:
Serve as a liaison between Western Technical College and businesses in and out of town that participate in our Commercial Driver Training (CDT) job placement program. Develop and maintain effective business relationships with work sites while incorporating professionalism, respect, integrity, and compassion in all that they do. Ensure that graduates have employment interviews and that a percentage of graduates acquire employment in their field of study. Visit in-town and out-of-town employers and encourage them to visit Western Technical College, and recruit graduates.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Establish and maintain relationships with internship and employer sites sufficient in numbers to meet the needs of the campus CDT students and graduate population.
- Ensure that graduates have employment interviews and that a high percentage of graduates acquire employment in their fields of study.
- Assist students with the preparation, revision, and explanation of employment documents (resumes, cover letters, applications, etc.).
- Meet with the program director to clear students for graduation a minimum of one week prior to starting their last week of the program.
- Conduct site visitations to establish partnerships with employers for graduates.
- Complete and submit thorough site visitation reports and documentation on a timely basis.
- Discuss employment opportunities early and often, beginning at Orientation, by frequently inviting employers to the classrooms to speak with students about opportunities. The Career Services Representative should conduct in-classroom discussions regarding preparation steps for employment, best practices, and steps to overcoming common challenges.
- Develop new employer sites, each year, in accordance with the Program’s needs, and goals established.
- Serve as liaison between the student and the employer site.
- Twenty-five hours out of the office on a weekly basis to recruit new employers locally and out of town
- Maintain graduate files for students in the student management system.
- Maintain graduate site database.
- Support PAC Meetings in partnership with the Program Directors and Faculty by securing and tracking community participation.
- Administer and maintain contracts, insurance certificates, and other documents for graduates.
- Ensure compliance with all School policies and procedures.
- Ensure that all graduate and employer surveys are sent out in a timely manner. Ensure that a majority of graduate and employer surveys sent out in any given month are responded to and returned to WTC.
- Conduct community surveys to gather labor market information, such as prevailing wages, hours, training, and employment possibilities.
- Visit in-town and out-of-town employers.
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
1. Associate degree or a combination of education and work experience.
2. Commercial driving field experience.
3. A minimum of five years of experience in the customer service field.
4. Two years of experience in sales, employment, or related fields.
5. Must have a valid driver’s license.
6. Must have and provide proof of the minimum legal insurance coverage on your personal vehicle.
7. Must be able to travel both locally and out of town, therefore must have dependable transportation.
8. Must have a personal cell phone to be used with the MFA.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This job operates mostly in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions. The Career Services Coordinator will be exposed to a variety of environments of employer sites and at driving range.
