Summary of Position : Direct the operation of Law Enforcement Academy, Jail Academies, and Criminal Justice associate degree programs. Responsibilities include direct supervision of faculty & staff, development of curriculum, budget oversight, program assessment, report and documentation management, and serving as a community liaison. All Coordinators may be tasked with limited teaching duties in their respective discipline programs. This position works to promote social justice within the division and the larger academic institution.

This position will be based out of Western's Public Safety Training facility in Sparta, WI, with some travel to La Crosse campus as needed.

This hybrid eligible position that could allow for up to 1 day working from home a week after the training period is complete.

Essential Functions

1. Maintain and uphold the College values of Learning, Excellence, Accountability, Diversity, Student Success, Teamwork, Integrity, and Respect.

2. Complete all required College training and responsible for maintaining the skills necessary to complete the essential functions of the position as defined by the department.

3. Student Success is the cornerstone of Western's culture and the college may assign employees as needed to other areas or additional duties to foster this success.

4. Plan, facilitate and implement program planning - Supporting Action / Task May Include :

  • Initiate and supervise all curricular activities

Plan, prepare and control program budget

Coordinates curriculum development and evaluation, recommends changes to upgrade existing offerings and plans for new programs / offerings

Facilitate contract training for local employers in collaboration with Business and Industry Services

Assist in identifying alternative sources of funding for programs

Teach in content expertise area as needed or required

Maintain accreditation / certification standards for applicable programs

5. Faculty & Staff supervision - Supporting Action / Task May Include :

  • Hire, evaluate, and provide supervision and direction to faculty & staff
  • Meet regularly with faculty & staff to discuss work-related issues and activities

    Oversee faculty & staff work schedules and faculty loads per term

    6. Manage and coordinate compliance standards - Supporting Action / Task May Include :

  • Enforce safety regulations and maintain safeguarding of equipment, supplies and facilities
  • Maintain required records and documentation and prepare and submit reports as required

    Plan, coordinate and manage course and certification related practical testing

    Assist other Coordinators in managing the Sparta Public Safety Campus facility & grounds

    7. Manage customer relations - Supporting Action / Task May Include :

  • Organize and participate in advisory committee meetings
  • Serve as liaison for the College with state, regional and local agencies and attend county or departmental meetings as necessary

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in related field with 3 years occupational experience OR
  • Education in related field combined with related occupational experience totaling 7 years OR
  • Related occupational experience totaling 7 years
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • 5 years' experience in related field
  • Teaching experience in a criminal justice degree program
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Required Test :

  • Hearing Baseline Test
  • Required Certification / Licenses :

  • State of Wisconsin, Dept. of Justice LESB Certified Instructor or willingness to obtain in one year.

    This position reports to : Dean - Health & Public Safety

    Starting annual salary range based on education and experience : $61,350 - $89,695

    This position would include competitive salary, along with a wide variety of benefits available to full-time Western Technical College Employees.
